Types of Ductile Iron Pipe

The ductile iron pipes produced by our company mainly include the following types:

01

T-type Ductile Iron Pipe

The outer anti-corrosion coating uses aluminum chloride and anti-sulfuric acid inner cement as the standard anti-corrosion inner lining to meet the highly corrosive nature of sewage.

02

Centrifugally Cast Iron Pipe

Our pipes feature smooth interiors. This reduces flow resistance. It saves pumping energy. Water quality stays pure. Our cement lining prevents scaling. It resists chemical corrosion.

03

Self-restraining Ductile Iron Pipe

Our self-restraining ductile iron pipes provide superior performance. They ensure completely secure connections. These pipes resist joint separation effectively.

Advantages of Ductile Iron Pipe

Spheroidal graphite cast iron pipe warehouse

Environmentally superior pipe: Ductile iron pipes are natural, safe, and sustainable. Ductile iron pipes contain at least 90% recycled materials with the pipes themselves being 100% recyclable.

Better value: Ductile iron pipe is a better value than plastic pipe because it lasts longer and saves money over time.

Lower emissions and less energy: Ductile iron pipe has better environmental performance due to its lower greenhouse gas emissions in both the production and operation phases.

Resilient: Ductile iron pipe is resilient through extreme weather events, natural disasters, soil contamination, and unpredictable situations.

Health and safety: Production of Ductile iron pipe does not release dangerous chemicals like vinyl chloride, dioxin or ethylene dichloride.

Longer life cycle: Ductile iron pipe requires very little maintenance and has an expected service life of at least 100 years.

Applications of Ductile Iron Pipe

Potable Water Supply

Ductile Iron Pipes are majorly used in the transportation of potable water from surface water sources like rivers, lakes, reservoirs, etc., to our households as rising mains, pumping mains, gravity mains, and distribution pipes.

Irrigation

Installation is straightforward and may be completed using normal site tools, eliminating the need for professionals. This dependable, leak-proof solution is ideal for irrigation operations.

Industrial Usage

Ductile Iron Pipes are used as water distribution pipes and for various other uses in several industries and power plants as raw water intake pipelines and other in-plant piping solutions.

Sewerage

Ductile Iron Pipes have been a favored choice for sewer systems for decades. Due to its high durability and corrosion resistance properties, Ductile Iron Pipes also make an excellent choice for various sewerage solutions.

Precautions For Handling Ductile Iron Pipes

1. Cast pipes and pipe fittings shall be lifted with slings or tools and handled with care during loading and unloading. During reshipment and transportation, the cushion shall be stable and firm without mutual impact.

2. For the bundled and packaged cast pipe during hoisting, the hoisting belt shall be sheathed at the bottom, and shall not be hung in the middle of the pipe layer, so as to prevent the packing belt from breaking and scattering during hoisting.

3. For the cast pipes in bulk, the hooks or lifting belts shall be used for lifting at one time.

4. If forklift is used for lifting, the places that may contact with the casting pipe during operation shall be protected.

5. The lifting of the cast pipe shall be stable and slow. It is forbidden to wind the cast pipe with the lifting belt to cause the pipe to rotate in the air. Be careful not to collide with other hard objects.

FAQ

Q: What is the difference between iron pipe and Ductile iron pipe?

A: The differences are due to the microstructures of graphite within these iron alloys. Ductile iron has excellent corrosion resistance, tensile strength, and yield strength. Unlike cast iron, ductile iron does not break when bent, which is more suited for high-demand applications.

Q: Will ductile iron pipe rust?

A: Ductile iron pipe is corrosion resistant and it moves water efficiently and under the high pressures that the pipe in water and sewer systems must face.

Q: Will a magnet stick to a ductile iron pipe?

A: Yes, it is a good magnetic material. Ductile iron was discovered in 1943. It has a high amount of graphite.

Q: What is the lifespan of a Ductile iron pipe?

A: Ductile iron pipe (DIP) offers exceptional longevity, with a typical lifespan of 100 years or more, often exceeding 120 years, making it a durable choice for water infrastructure, outperforming many plastic alternatives and providing significant long-term value due to minimal maintenance and high resistance to corrosion with modern linings.

Q: Can you drill and tap ductile iron pipe?

A: Ductile Iron pipe is readily tapped either dry or under pressure by using con- ventional tapping equipment utilized by most con- tractors and water utilities. Taps made directly into the pipe result in clean, sharp, strong threads, making tapping sad- dles unnecessary for small diameter taps.

Q: Can ductile iron pipe crack?

A: Yes, they can crack. Ductile iron pipes can crack for different reasons, although they are one of the most used options in many industries. Environmental factors such as soil condition, mechanical factors like pressure or temperature changes, and installation quality are all effective.

As one of the most experienced ductile iron pipe manufacturers and suppliers in China, our company offer a wide range of products with superior quality. Please feel free to buy high quality ductile iron pipe for sale here from our factory. Good service and reasonable price are available.
