Product Features

EN 598 Certification Means Built for Wastewater
This standard is specifically for sewerage systems. Not all ductile iron pipes meet it. EN 598 requires special linings and coatings that resist sewage chemicals. You get a pipe designed for the job.

High Alumina Cement Lining Fights Acid Attack
Sewage produces sulfuric acid from hydrogen sulfide gas. Standard cement mortar breaks down in acid. High alumina cement (HAC) resists acid attack. Your pipe stays protected for decades.

Polyurethane Lining Option for Abrasive Sludge
Grit and sand in sewage wear down linings. Polyurethane (PU) lining is extremely hard and smooth. It resists abrasion from grit. It also resists acid and grease. Choose PU for pump stations and force mains.

Application & Scope

Gravity Sewer Mains – Large diameter pipes that flow by gravity. No internal pressure. Flexible joints follow the trench profile.

Force Mains (Rising Mains) – Pressurized pipes from pump stations to treatment plants. PN16 and PN25 ratings handle pump discharge pressure.

Pump Station Suction and Discharge – Pipes before and after sewage pumps. Flanged joints allow easy pump removal.

Vacuum Sewer Systems – Pipes under negative pressure. Rubber gaskets seal inward as well as outward.

Septic Tank Effluent Lines – Small diameter pipes from septic tanks to drain fields. Corrosion resistant for septic chemicals.

Industrial Wastewater Lines – Factory effluent with chemicals, high temperature, or abrasives. Choose special linings for your specific waste.

Materials & Standards Compliance

Component EN 598 Material Our Material Why for Wastewater
Iron grade 400/15 or 420/12 EN-GJS-400-15 Same as EN 545, proven
Inner lining HAC High alumina cement Ciment Fondu or equivalent Resists acid from H2S
Inner lining PU Polyurethane elastomer 2mm thickness Resists abrasion
Outer coating Zinc + bitumen 200 g/m² zinc minimum Sacrificial protection
Outer sleeve PE sleeve 0.2mm thick tube Physical barrier to H2S
Gasket EPDM or NBR EPDM (wastewater grade) Resists sewage chemicals

Optional Configurations

EPDM Gaskets (Wastewater Grade) – One per joint included. Spare gaskets available. Resists sewage chemicals.

Lubricant for Joint Assembly – Water-based, non-toxic. Safe for workers and environment.

Polyurethane Lining (PU) – For abrasive sludge and pump stations. 2mm thickness. Extremely hard and smooth.

Polyethylene Sleeve – Outer corrosion protection. Slips over the pipe. Shrinks tight with heat. Excellent H2S barrier.

Fittings (EN 598) – Bends, tees, reducers, blank flanges. Same HAC lining and outer coating as pipes.

Restrained Joints – For thrust restraint at bends without concrete blocks. Mechanical locking system.

Performance Testing

Hydrostatic Pressure Test (EN 598 Clause 9.2) – Test each pipe to 1.5x nominal pressure. Hold for 10 seconds. No leakage or sweating allowed. We test to 1.8x for extra safety.

Tensile Test (EN 598 Clause 8.2.2) – Sample from each cast. Must achieve 400 MPa and 12% minimum elongation (15% for 400/15 grade). Our pipes exceed this.

Hardness Test (EN 598 Clause 8.2.3) – Brinell hardness below 230 HB. Our pipes 180-210 HB.

Microstructure (EN 598 Clause 8.2.4) – Graphite nodularity minimum 80%. Our process achieves 90%+.

HAC Lining Chemical Test – Verify high alumina content. Minimum 40% Al2O3 required.

Lining Thickness (EN 598 Annex C) – Minimum thickness by DN. We exceed EN 598 minimums.
